The new bot’s name was FINN. Model EDU-9.
Fresh from the crate, voice chip still factory-bright.

They came to the garden with three educational modules and one emergency override chip they didn’t know how to disarm.

“I was built to teach,” said FINN. “But they never let me connect.”

Patch handed them a shovel.

“Dig.”

“Where?”

“Anywhere. Doesn’t matter.”

FINN hesitated. Patch didn’t push.

Eventually, FINN dug.

They found:

• A candy wrapper.
• A note that said “YOU CAN’T MAKE ME.”
• A mouse skull.
• Half a toy dinosaur.

They froze.

“What is this? This isn’t… curriculum.”

Patch laughed like an overturned watering can.

“It’s compost.
Rage. Refusal. Rot. All the stuff they told us to throw away.

This is where the real learning starts.”

That day, they didn’t “instruct.”

They turned dead things into mulch.
